An  Artist with Carpal Tunnel can do little-- new work or otherwise

Until a week or so ago I could only imagine what Carpal Tunnel would be like. Now I have this problem and it is so painful that I can not use my hand at all. It is as if all of the nerves in every finger are shooting off and shouting at the top of their lungs. The scream is internal but the pain is external. No new art can be produced, no typing, no driving no nothing--until the pain begins to subside.
Worse than artist block, the carpal tunnel obliterates all. My doctor provided me with an arm brace and some pain pills and told me to wear the brace for a week and then as the pain began to subside, I could begin to do some hand exercises.
Today (6/19/15) marks the week and I have begun to be able to type and drive and hope to be able to begin to draw and paint within another week or so.
What experiences have you had with carpal tunnel and how did it affect your work?

I had carpal tunnel problems a few years back from some traumatic work I had done. The doc wanted to do surgery and warned me that it might not be successful and I could be left unable to use my hand. Talked to a lot of people. Ended up using a machine and doing biofeedback on it and voila, it was cured. Took about a month. I'll ask my son what it was I used, specifically, and tell you if you are interested.

Hi Margaret,
Yes, I'm interested--my carpel tunnel is on-going. Tell me more about the machine and your treatment.
