Q4 2015 - YEAR-END INAUGURAL NEWSLETTER
This inaugural issue of my newsletter may be an introduction for some of you to my art work. I am a figurative--abstract--surrealist artist. Others, may have seen a limited amount of my work before. My imagery is figurative, abstract and surreal. It is often satirical, political or social commentary or just a representation of birds, flowers and trees, or human forms.
Sometimes I focus on relationships, situations like love or romance--or individuals and small groups. My art has an affinity to Picasso, Miro, Dali, Paul Klee, and Saul Steinberg, among many others. You can currently see my artwork at GordonArtPlace.com, theXanadu Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona, LarkGalleryOnline or Gallery 825 here in Los Angeles to see samples of my work. Or, just come to my studio for a private showing! Call me at 310.390.0200 to make an appointment.

The picture Two Old Friends Talking About Old Times is an Oil on Canvas painting about two old friends who love to talk together, but don't see each other very often, except over a period of years, every so often, they do. Then, it's as if they never parted, they take-up where they left off, talking a mile a minute to catch up with each other. Their conversation is animated by their active non-verbal and hand movements and the colorful tales they are telling.
This version of a A Man and His Horse is a serigraph (Silkscreen) based on the oil painting. The edition is one of 140, Plus Artist proofs, on Acid Free 100% Coventry Rag Velum paper, signed and numbered by the artist. Ask about other Serigraphs, lithographs and Etchings in the collection. There is also a selection of Pen and Ink original drawings that you can ask to see on your next visit to my studio or by arrangement.
The story behind this image dates back to my days at Berkeley when my roommate, Abraham Lev, asked me one day, after he saw that I had been drawing something, "So, Barry, can you draw a Man, can you draw a horse?" -- Abby, is an electrical engineer and an attorney, and probably thought I would interpret him quite literally...so this is the Man and His Horse, that I created in response--circa 1964.
