When I was a sophomore in college, I took great pleasure in observing the rapid maturity of freshman women as they transitioned from being unwise and unsophisticated young girls to becoming wiser and more sophisticated young women in the course of one or two semesters. Thus, painting this canvas reminded me of that phenomenon.
